Since his earliest days as an artist, Mark was fascinated by the idea of futuristic speculation and the evolution of technology. The first professional manifestation of this interest came in the form of model making and industrial design, where he evolved his understanding of how things were made and learned about the elegant merging of form and function.
In 1993, after 9 years as a model maker, Mark decided to return to his primary interest of design and illustration. It was his great fortune to have an opportunity to work under the supervision of Ron Cobb, a world-renowned designer and illustrator, who shared Mark's interest in speculation about the future of technology and design. Working with Ron at Rocket Science Games for 2-1/2 years greatly accelerated Mark's experience and knowledge. He became well versed at resolving creative problems, generating ideas quickly to meet both a narrative and economically feasible criteria, as well as collaborating with fellow designers working in a variety of mediums.
After Rocket Science, Mark went on to work on designs for simulator rides at Xulu Entertainment.
In 1998, Mark decided to pursue a freelance career in the interest of getting a wider variety of projects, as well as having more time to work on personal endeavors. Since that time he has done conceptual design for products, feature films, major television commercials and video games, as well as high-resolution illustrations for national ad campaigns.
Mark is continually looking for work that seeks to break new ground on all fronts, and provide an opportunity for creative collaboration.
